Irish Pig Road Glide Full-Length Performance Exhaust
The Irish Pig Harley-Davidson Road Glide Full-Length 2-Into-1 Performance Exhaust takes the architecture of our Road Glide performance system and extends its tuning strategy into a full-length configuration designed for high-output Milwaukee-Eight combinations.
This system uses three-step 304/304L stainless-steel primaries — 1.750” → 1.875” → 2.000” — with the 2.000” final primary section extended approximately 7.5 inches on each cylinder compared with our shorter Road Glide configuration.
The additional primary length isn’t simply there to make the pipe longer. Increasing the length of the final 2.000” section changes the timing of the returning pressure waves within the exhaust system. The design is intended to shift the system’s tuning characteristics toward a broader, more sustained torque curve while maintaining strong upper-rpm breathing capability.
Both stepped primaries feed a performance merge collector before transitioning into a 2.500” diameter, 32.5” full-length exhaust section measured from the collector outlet. The longer downstream section provides additional exhaust volume and changes the reflected-wave behavior compared with a short-exit system.
PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS
The stepped-primary architecture is designed to maintain exhaust-gas velocity during the earlier stages of the exhaust event while progressively increasing cross-sectional area as gas volume and engine demand increase.
The 1.750” initial primary promotes gas velocity and exhaust-energy retention leaving the cylinder. The transition into 1.875” tubing increases flow capacity without making an abrupt jump in cross-sectional area. The final 2.000” primary section provides substantially greater flow capacity for larger-displacement and higher-output M8 combinations.
Extending that final 2.000” section also increases the distance traveled by pressure waves before they return toward the exhaust valve. Combined with the merge collector and long 2.500” outlet section, this gives the system a very different tuning strategy from a short, rapidly terminating race exhaust.
The objective is strong cylinder evacuation, effective scavenging and a broad usable powerband rather than concentrating the exhaust’s tuning effect into a narrow RPM window.
ENGINE COMBINATIONS
This system is particularly suited to performance Milwaukee-Eight combinations where airflow demand has moved beyond a basically stock engine.
Potential applications include:
- 117–135+ CI Milwaukee-Eight combinations
- Performance camshaft packages
- Ported or high-flow cylinder heads
- Larger throttle bodies and intake manifolds
- Increased compression combinations
- Larger valves and higher-flow induction systems
- Competition and high-performance builds requiring increased exhaust-flow capacity
On moderate combinations, the stepped architecture is intended to preserve exhaust velocity rather than simply overwhelming the engine with excessive primary diameter. As displacement, cylinder-head flow, camshaft duration and RPM demand increase, the larger downstream sections provide the additional cross-sectional area necessary to support greater mass flow.
BUILT AROUND EXHAUST DYNAMICS — NOT JUST PIPE DIAMETER
A performance exhaust is more than a large tube attached to an engine.
Primary diameter, step location, primary length, collector geometry, outlet diameter and overall system length all influence how pressure waves travel through the exhaust and interact with the engine during valve overlap.
The Irish Pig Full-Length Performance Exhaust combines those elements into a system designed around gas velocity, wave timing, scavenging and high-flow capacity for performance-oriented Milwaukee-Eight engines.
